چکیده
Citrus, belonging to the Rutaceae family, is a commercial fruit worldwide, and it mainly recognized for its nutritional, anti-oxidant, significant medicinal properties. Citruses are group of multifaceted crops with rich traditional knowledge, deeply rooted in ethnic culture, fruits have been considered be health-protecting health-promoting food supplements since ancient times. The presence secondary metabolites their bioactivities has led development new alternative drugs recent years. Diverse such as flavonoids, alkaloids, carotenoids, phenolic acids, essential oils high bioactive properties imparted great value human health based on anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, cardiovascular protective, neuroprotective effects. indigenous Citrus species India—mainly Northeast India—have distinctive valuable genetic traits, resistance biotic abiotic stress, aroma, flavor, etc. Hence, these repertoires genes molecular breeding aimed at quality improvement. There need awareness understanding among citrus-producing countries exploitation biodiversity conservation sustainable bioprospecting. current review presents holistic view from global perspective, including phytochemical constituents benefits. Advanced biotechnological genomic approaches trait improvement also discussed highlight relevance

Search, bioprospecting and biodiversity conservation
To what extent can private-sector bioprospecting incentives be relied upon for the protection of biological diversity? The literature contains dramatically different estimates of these incentives, from trivial to quite large. We resolve this controversy by isolating the fundamental source of the discrepancy and then providing empirically defensible estimates based on that analysis. Results demo...

Bioprospecting is the exploration of biological material for commercially valuable genetic and biochemical properties (Reid et al., 1993). This chapter will focus on the search for activities that could form the basis of new pharmaceuticals. Historically, most of the active ingredients in medicines have been natural products (Sneader, 1996), and natural products continue to form a productive so...
متن کاملBiodiversity and chemodiversity: future perspectives in bioprospecting.
Biological diversity and its constituent chemical diversity have served as one of the richest sources of bioprospecting leading to the discovery of some of the most important bioactive molecules for mankind. Despite this excellent record, in the recent past, however, bioprospecting of biological resources has met with little success; there has been a perceptible decline in the discovery of nove...
متن کاملCoccolithophores: Functional Biodiversity, Enzymes and Bioprospecting
Emiliania huxleyi is a single celled, marine phytoplankton with global distribution. As a key species for global biogeochemical cycling, a variety of strains have been amassed in various culture collections. Using a library consisting of 52 strains of E. huxleyi and an 'in house' enzyme screening program, we have assessed the functional biodiversity within this species of fundamental importance...

To what extent can the private sector be relied upon for the protection of biological diversity? Bioprospecting, the search for valuable products such as pharmaceuticals in biological organisms, is one incentive mechanism that has received much recent attention in the literature (Polasky et al. 1993, Polasky and Solow 1995, Simpson et al. 1996, Koo and Wright 1999, Rausser and Small 2000). Simp...
